Karaoke is a great way to train! Not only is it an opportunity for you to address any stage fright issues but you can involve friends and family. All of us of course have gone to a karaoke bar to throw back a few drinks and sing some songs but, why wait until then? If you have the space and you can make louder sounds, why not use this as a way to train? Karaoke singing is not that far off from actually performing on a stage.
- We want you:
★ Comfortable and confident performing in front of others
★ Able to use microphone technique
★ Already have a prepared list of songs at all times you can do on the fly
★ Be comfortable using a PA System (after all, a guitarist is expected to provide an amp to play out of. You're expected to provide a PA System in a band setting)
★ Able to have a good time and not get caught up on the technical aspects
Some of this may seem daunting and exciting at the same time. Take a look at my PA System breakdown if you have questions on how they work but ideally, we would like you to be regularly using a form of a PA System. We want you comfortable twisting nobs and adjusting levels. Most songs can be found if you search "[song title]+karaoke" on YouTube. There are also free apps like Smule that allow you to work on karaoke without a PA System via your phone. Smule also allows you to work with strangers on duets. It's a fine time over the holidays to work on your craft!
